On November 7, 2023, the Utopia ISD community will vote on the district’s $58 million bond package.

 Why is Utopia ISD having a bond election?

  • SAFETY & SECURITY

    The safety of the students in Utopia ISD is a top priority. With laws changing regularly, there are safety & security updates that must be addressed for facilities to meet state standards.

  • CAREER-READINESS

    Utopia ISD strives to provide students with as many opportunities as possible. A CTE facility will provide students with real-world experiences, preparing them for the future.

  • AGING FACILITIES

    Facilities in Utopia ISD are aging and no longer meet state standards. As time goes on, the age of these facilities greatly impacts students and their day-to-day learning.

What is included in this bond package?

The bond is for $58 million and includes:

  • New Main Building & Demolition of old Main Building

  • Renovation to the Old Gym

  • CTE Facility

  • Other District-Wide Improvements

“How will the bond affect my taxes?”

65+ Homestead Exemption

Under state law, the dollar amount of school taxes imposed on the residence homestead of a person 65 years of age or older cannot be increased above the amount paid in the first year after the person turned 65 or disabled. You must apply for this exemption.
